DIGICEL SEGAVAO CONFIRMED FOR THE TEUILA FAUTASI RACE
August 28th 2009 - Digicel Segavao aim to hold on to the Cup at this year’s Teuila Festival.Aug 28th, 2009, Apia: Digicel have announced their Naming Rights sponsorship of Don Bosco’s fautasi – Segavao, in this year’s Teuila Festival’s fautasi races. Aiming to secure yet another win for the second year running, the Digicel Segavao committee (all consisting of Don Bosco staff) have long begun preparations towards achieving their goal.
This is the third year Digicel have signed up Naming Rights to the Segavao who in turn have continued to maintain a sound reputation of the fautasi to beat given its history of top placings.
“Digicel are Samoa’s Bigger, Better Network, and to be able to assist what’s arguably the best fautasi team on island not only adds value to the committee and teams’ efforts but is in line with our brand expectations.” says Pepe Christian Fruean, CEO of Digicel Samoa. “We support and nurture dedication and hard work… the Digicel Segavao committee and team share these same values,” he continues.
Principal of Don Bosco Technical Centre (DBTC), Father Petelo Vito spearheads the Digicel Segavao committee as Chairman. There are 60 boys in training with coaches, management and administration, all part of DBTC’s working staff.
“We’re most grateful to Digicel for the continued assistance over the years and once again for their assistance in securing Digicel Segavao’s participation in this year’s Teuila Festival,” said Father Petelo Vito. “The Digicel Segavao committee members and team are committed to working to their optimum abilities to achieve the best we possibly can at the race next month.”
Preparations began immediately once schools commenced after the swine flu scare. Sixty (60) students went into camp and have been training with their newly elected captain Lui Mulipola and assistant captain Isitolo Stanley for the past couple of weeks.
“This year, we’ve encouraged a wider demographic of students starting from 17 through to 22 years of age. Thanks to Digicel’s assistance, we’re able to help these students nuture one of their passions and talents, which will hopefully see them to a brighter future.” States Father Petelo Vito.
